COROS for coaches: structured workouts on the watch, execution in your calendar
Updated:
The athlete runs or rides with a COROS watch, and you as the coach want the structured workout you wrote to be on their wrist, with the execution coming back to your calendar without files and screenshots. In EasyTrackly the athlete connects their COROS account once, and from then on the data flows on its own. This page explains exactly what flows where, which sports the sending covers, what the athlete does and where the limits of this integration are - so you know what to expect before you invite your first athlete.
What flows where
From EasyTrackly to the COROS watch
You write a workout with steps in the athlete's calendar - warm-up, intervals, recoveries, cool-down - and publish it. If the athlete has turned on automatic workout sending on the COROS card, a published running or cycling workout with steps goes to the COROS app calendar, and from there to the watch. The athlete heads out, and the watch guides them step by step through your plan.
We send workouts from the next 90 days. A workout planned further out reaches the watch after its next change, once it is inside that window. The Structured workouts page explains how to build workout steps.
From the COROS watch to EasyTrackly
The athlete syncs the watch with the COROS app as usual. We check for new activities every quarter of an hour, so a session shows up in the calendar within 15-20 minutes of the sync - with the full data from the FIT file: heart rate, pace, power, laps and the route, if the watch recorded them. When a plan in the same sport is waiting on the same day or the day next to it, the app suggests matching the activity to the plan, so you have plan and execution in one place.
Changes to the plan
This is where COROS differs from Garmin and Suunto. This connection does not move or delete workouts in the COROS app. When you move a workout to another day, the new entry goes to the watch and the old one stays in the COROS app - the athlete deletes it there by hand. The same goes for a workout removed from the plan or unpublished. The workout panel in EasyTrackly reminds you about such an entry on the sync tab, so it is clear what needs cleaning up.
Which sports
- Sending to the watch: running and cycling workouts with steps. Swimming and strength workouts stay in the EasyTrackly calendar - the athlete follows the description in the app.
- Import to the calendar: the sports the athlete kept enabled in the import section of the COROS card. They can turn off import entirely or only for single disciplines.
What the coach sees
- The athlete's calendar with plan and execution side by side.
- The imported session with data from the watch: heart rate, pace, power, laps and the route.
- In the workout panel, a sync tab showing whether the workout reached COROS, and a reminder about the old entry after a date change. Once the athlete deletes the old entries, the coach confirms it in that box and the reminder disappears.
Only the athlete has the integrations tab. The coach cannot connect a COROS account on the athlete's behalf - but sees in the calendar everything that came from COROS.
What the athlete does
The connection is on the athlete's side and takes a few minutes.
- In the profile, on the integrations tab, they click connect on the COROS card.
- They sign in with the account they use in the COROS app and approve access for EasyTrackly.
- In the import section they choose which sports should arrive in the calendar.
- They turn on automatic workout sending if your workouts with steps should reach the watch.
The step-by-step guide is on the COROS page in the Help Center.
Limits and consents
- 90 days of history. Right after connecting, the last 90 days of history start coming in, newest first. A manual sync does the same for the last 30 days.
- COROS limit. COROS hands out at most 50 activity files a day, so history arrives gradually, up to 40 sessions a day. New sessions come first and reach the calendar right away.
- The athlete cleans up old entries. Moving, deleting or unpublishing a workout does not change entries in the COROS app.
- One COROS account, one EasyTrackly account. A COROS account can be connected to only one account in the app.
- Consent on the COROS side. Disconnecting in EasyTrackly stops the import but does not withdraw consent in COROS - the athlete withdraws it in the COROS app. Imported data stays.
Frequently asked questions
A session is missing from the calendar. What should I check?
First, whether the watch has synced with the COROS app - until it does, there is nothing to fetch. Then the state of the athlete's COROS card: expired or revoked access stops the import, and the athlete then reconnects the account. The full list of causes is on the Common sync problems page.
I moved a workout and there are two on the watch. Why?
Because the COROS connection does not move or delete entries. The new workout reached the watch and the old one stayed in the COROS app. The athlete deletes it there by hand. The Workout on the watch page explains sending in detail.
Does the athlete have to click anything for each workout?
No. Once the account is connected and sending is on, new workouts with steps reach the watch on their own, and the execution comes back to the calendar without uploading files. The How import works page explains import from every source.
Start with one athlete
Create a coach account, invite an athlete with a COROS watch and ask them to connect the account and turn on sending. Write one workout with steps, publish it and check that it reached the watch, and after the session see the execution next to the plan. If some of your athletes use Garmin, see the Garmin integration page too. Create a coach account.
