Training settings and zones

How to set maximum heart rate, thresholds and training zones for running, cycling and swimming.

For coaches and athletesUpdated:

An athlete's thresholds and zones drive how the app counts time in zones and training load. Athletes set them in their profile, coaches on the athlete's page.

  1. Fill in the physiological profile

In the Physiological profile card, enter Maximum Heart Rate and Resting Heart Rate. These values apply to every sport. The heart rate zones in this card cover strength training and activities without their own section. Click Save.

Physiological profile card with maximum heart rate, resting heart rate and sex fields, the heart rate zone method, a preview of five zones and the Save button
  2. Set thresholds per sport

Below are the Running, Cycling and Swimming cards. Each has its own Lactate Threshold Heart Rate and heart rate zone method. Running also has Threshold Pace and cycling has FTP (Functional Threshold Power).

  3. Choose a method and check the preview

HR Zone Calculation Method changes how zone boundaries are calculated. With Custom Zones you type the boundaries yourself. The zone preview below the fields shows the result before you save.

Coach: an athlete's thresholds

On the athlete's page (Athletes, the athlete's row), the Training Zones section shows their thresholds in each sport. Edit next to a sport opens the same form the athlete sees in their profile.
